ASSESSMENT OF INDIVIDUAL ABILITY AND POTENTIAL

In order to ensure the scientific reliability, validity and culture fairness of the assessment batteries applied, in accordance with labour legislation, assessments are based on an evaluation of the work competencies to be tested.

The assessment batteries employed include a comprehensive evaluation of personality competencies, as determined by the position in question. These include locus of control, leadership style, communication skills and interpersonal style. In addition, the batteries employed in the selection of potential managers include a comprehensive in-basket exercise which provides a non-specific work sample in which applicants are required to evaluate and organise the information with which they are presented in order to initiate and implement appropriate action. This form of assessment enables us to identify the manner in which individuals approach tasks, engage in problem-solving and address the demands of a new work situation without focusing on specific knowledge requirements.


Consequently, the underlying competencies and the potential required may be identified without discriminating against candidates with less training in a particular field. A structured interpersonal interview is undertaken with the candidate in order to supplement the information derived throughout the assessment process. Assessment batteries cater to the following needs:  

  • The assessment of management ability and potential in individuals
  • The development needs of individuals
  • The suitability of individuals for positions

Detailed feedback, a comprehensive report and, where required, a counseling session with respect to the suggested development plan of the individual, forms an integral part of this service. In addition, where client organisations wish to ensure the legal defensibility of their assessment system, validation studies are conducted which provide a statistical evaluation of the validity and fairness of the specific assessment process. All assessments are individualised for the specific needs of the client.
